Music For The Little Tikes Xylophone
Ort: Effenaar, Eindhoven (Cross Linx Festival)
Date: 02/18/2011
viewers: a couple of hundred
Duration: about 40 min
The first station in Eindhoven Cross Linx festival was the cultural center Effenaar , in whose great hall of the Danish band Efterklang occurred. Efterklang were announced with a brass orchestra. When the light went out then appeared initially eight brass (!): Horn, trombone, two trumpets, three saxophones and clarinet. And because there were so many backing musicians, could be stingy and not Efterklang and appeared to ninth, while not completely true, because one of these nine was a pianist and arranger Daniel Bjarnason.
The Icelander who has studied music in Freiburg has, in addition to joining Efterklang including for Sigur Rós and Ölof Arnalds (coming soon) worked. Daniel played piano throughout, but was always to short to conduct the Wind Orchestra. However, also took singer Casper Clausen conductor's duties, he showed again and again, when who should start - certainly much needed for 17 musicians on stage for quite small! Besides the four core members were Efterklang Heather Woods Broderick, her brother Peter to the supporters, the other three I realized, unfortunately, not .*
The support of the wind was particularly the Danes and the music was different than I had experienced in Halden. Sometimes there were long instrumental intro forever,
other songs went into each other, the transition was a horn section (monopolist and Rain Coats). When the mass of wind instruments, the associations remained to Big Band music is not enough. I saw a few times in my mind's eye, Max Greger vorbeitröten. Other pieces with the horns sounded more like the CD versions - oh, you have to dissect not, the sound generated from wind (even the drummer Efterklang played in at least one piece of an additional trumpet, Heather Woods Broderick flute), guitar, keyboards and lots of percussion instruments was unique and a great experience!
the biggest hit had been lifted for the increased Danes's end, they agreed Modern drift to one of her best songs. But he was even nicer than usual, because after the song was actually done, formed the seventeen Polonaise and covered with wind instruments and bells from the stage and through the hall and made music on there, it was wonderful!
